The 6th Sustainable Process Integration Laboratory (SPIL) Scientific Conference

14 – 15 November 2022 (Hybrid), Brno, Czech Republic

SPIL Scientific Conference 2022 will be held in hybrid mode at Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno (Historical Capital and Statutory City in Moravia), Czech RepublicIt serves as a networking platform for collaboration on sustainability research, particularly topics as listed:

  • Process Integration
  • Waste and wastewater management
  • Waste to Energy
  • Renewable Energy and Utility System
  • Footprint minimisation and mitigation
  • Cleaner production and Circular Economy
  • Technoeconomic and Life Cycle Assessment
  • Process analysis and modelling
  • Mathematical optimisation

But are not limited to the mentioned topics. Sustainable solutions, improving the process/conversion effectiveness, economical, environmental and social aspects, as well as policy implementation for environmental footprint mitigation, are within the interest of this conference.

Presented works (with active participation) in SPIL’ 22 will be invited to select (the choice will be evaluated and decided by editors) and submit their work to the Special Issue. World leading researchers will be invited as the Plenary Speaker or Guest of Honor to provide the up-to-date insight of their respective expertise.

Information

Oral Presentation: Both onsite and online presenters are required to prepare a prerecorded video (narrated presentation) according to the instruction in COMET system. The allocated duration is a maximum of 15 minutes, including a Q&A session. The pre-recorded video will be placed on the virtual conference platform and enabled for playback during the conference for the online audience. This format is employed to facilitate the participants from different time zone. Participants will be able to listen to the presentation at any time. Questions and answers for online participation are conducted by typing. Presenters will receive a notification if questions or comments are directed to the presentation.

Poster Presentation: Both onsite and online presenters are required to prepare a prerecorded video (narrated presentation) according to the instruction in COMET system with a maximum of 3 slides and 3-5 minutes of narration. The format/size of printed poster (onsite presenter only) is A0.

Workshop in conjunction with SPIL'22

Workshop on “Inventory of Phosphorus Raw Materials in V4” – [Hybrid], 15 November 2022, 15:30 – 17:30

The workshop include session presenting the results of the project’s scientific research, i.e. a detailed inventory of P-rich waste in the V4 countries, with information on the region’s phosphorus recovery potential and the possibility of reducing P import from external countries and thus ensuring food production in the V4. Future perspectives and possible development will be discussed. The analysis of the added value of P recovery in the period of pandemic or other threats of XXI century will be presented and discussed. 

Participation is free of charge. Workshop participants will receive a certificate confirming participation. Students (bachelor, master, PhD), researcher and experts, whose research topics focus on the environmental, economic, social, law scientific background are encouraging to participate. All the participants have to be registered. There is limited seats available for onsite participants and it is reserved for project partners and SPIL’22 conference participants.

Presentation Title: Study on mechanism and performance enhancement of thermal energy storage with composite phase change materials, Wei Cui, Xinyi Li, Ting Ma, Qiuwang Wang*

‪Qiu-Wang Wang (Xi’an Jiaotong University, China)

Dr. Qiuwang Wang, Professor of School of Energy & Power Engineering, Dean of Department for Undergraduate Education, Executive Director of International Joint Research Laboratory of Thermal Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. He was a visiting scholar at City University of Hong Kong from May 1998 to March 1999, a guest professor at Kyushu University of Japan from September to December 2003, and a senior visiting scholar at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA from December 2012 to June 2013.

His research interests include heat transfer enhancement and its applications, high-temperature/high-pressure heat transfer and fluid flow, transport phenomena in porous media, numerical simulation, prediction & optimization, etc. He is a Fellow of ASME, a China Delegate of Assembly for Intl Heat Transfer Conference (AIHTC), a member of Scientific Council of Intl Centre for Heat & Mass Transfer (ICHMT), a Vice President of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics in Heat & Mass Transfer. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Energy Storage and Saving, an Associate Editor of Heat Transfer Engineering, and Editorial Board Members for several international journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Conversion and Management, Energy, Applied Thermal Engineering, etc. He is founding chair of International Workshop on Heat Transfer Advances for Energy Conservation and Pollution Control (IWHT) (every two years since 2011, 2011-Xi’an, 2013-Xi’an, 2015-Taipei, 2017-Las Vegas, 2019- Novosibirsk, 2021-Harbin). He has also delivered more than 50 Invited/Keynote lectures in international conferences or foreign Universities. He has also been authors or co-authors of 4 books and more than 200 international journal papers. He has obtained more than 40 China Invent Patents and 4 US Patents.

Presentation Title: Smart Mobility Hub towards Sustainable Development

Seungjae LEE (The University of Seoul, South Korea) 

Dr Seungjae LEE is a Professor of Transportation Planning in University of Seoul. He obtained his PhD in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University College London (UCL) in 1994, and worked as a Research Fellow in Department of Statistical Science, UCL, and Korea Transport Institute. His research directions shown in numerous his published papers, are to seek and develop scientific approaches in order to make a better society by enhancing sustainable and smart mobility systems. He has found and served International Journal of Transportation as an Editor-in-Chief, (ESCI). He has also served several editorial boards of SCI journals such as Transportmetrica, International Journal of Sustainable Transportation and Proceedings of Municipal Engineering, Institution of Civil Engineering among others.
